Belief in the universal offer of God’s salvation through Christ.

Methodists believe "faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead" (James 2:17)

Our Belief

Methodists have long held to this belief
in the universal offer of God’s salvation through Christ

The United Methodist faith is deeply rooted in the Scripture and in the basic beliefs of all Christians. Out of that theology and the faith have grown some specific actions that mark United Methodists as Christians engaged in ministry to the world.

The basic beliefs of The United Methodist Church include:

  • God is one God in three persons:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • The writings in the Old and New Testament are the inspired word of God

  • All human beings are sinners. "By grace we are saved through faith"

  • God loves us all and offers salvation through His son, Jesus Christ.

  •  Baptism and Communion.

  • People have the free will to make their own choices.

  • God gives his love freely, though it may be resisted.
